BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Lodi Police Department ("Department") was allotted the purchase of three patrol utility vehicles through the fiscal year 2023/24 budgeting process. The Department initially planned on purchasing Ford Interceptors; however, Ford is behind production due to employee strikes, supply chain issues, and low production. For these reasons, it was in the Department's best interest to look into other options that could fulfill therequests sooner.
The Department acquired quotes from the Chevy and Dodge California Fleet Contract dealers and were given the opportunity to purchase three 2024 Dodge Durango Pursuit vehicles that would be delivered before the end of the fiscal year. In order to secure the order, and guarantee an accurate delivery date, the Interim City Manager approved the purchase of the vehicles before they could be scheduled for Council approval. Purchase orders 2240129, 2240130, and 2240142 were created and sent to the dealership for processing.
