body
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On May 19, 2021, by Resolution 2021-131, City Council authorized the purchase of one bucket truck mounted on a 2022 Ford F-550 chassis from Altec Industries, Inc., ("Altec") of Dixon in an amount not-to-exceed $175,000.

This requested authorization was based on a 2021 quote from Altec and was to replace an existing Troubleshooter bucket truck (Vehicle No. 09-046). While staff are typically able to estimate projected escalation and surcharges that may be incurred on these longer lead time items, staff are starting to see a much higher demand for these vehicles with new fleet electrification regulations moving forward. Due to the high demand for these vehicles and chassis surcharges from the vehicle manufacturers, the final cost for this vehicle came in at $185,764.20.

This vehicle replacement is a key component of the utility's fleet as it is used to complete maintenance and troubleshooting activities associated with the electric distribution system, including emergency response calls. While additional authorization is needed as it relates to the approved purchase price, no additional budget appropriation is needed as the utility realized over $100,000 in savings on the recent purchase of three larger fleet replacements.
