RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt a resolution authorizing appropriation for replacement of gasoline and diesel fuel dispensers, in the amount of $35,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The gas and diesel fuel dispensers at the municipal service yard were built and installed over twenty years ago. The current dispensers' age has made parts obsolete. When parts of the dispensers break, it can take up to three months to obtain new parts and get the fuel dispensers back up and running. When the fuel dispensers are down, the City vehicles must utilize an alternative gas station where we pay full retail prices, rather than the heavily discounted fuel provided at the City fuel island.
On a regular basis, mechanics must be called out when the City's fuel management system will not communicate with the fuel dispensers, due to the age of the dispenser's software. With the purchase of the new fuel dispensers it will save the City time and money across all departments' fleet.
