BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Libraries are the heart of our communities providing individuals of all ages and all backgrounds with the resources they need to succeed and thrive. During National Library Week, we celebrate the countless ways that libraries enrich our communities, by providing accessibility to literature, arts, workshops, and online resources. The Lodi Public Library's mission is to "... provide a safe space where are all welcome to learn, connect and relax." Lodi Library Director, librarians and library staff play a critical role in connecting community members to these services and resources, including teens and seniors, veterans, people new to the United States, and unhoused individuals.
Therefore, in recognition of National Library Worker's Day and National Library Week, Mayor Craig, on behalf of the Lodi City Council, proclaims April 9th as National Library Workers' Day and April 7-13 as National Library Week. The Council also encourages the community's commitment to protecting our library and supports efforts to provide inclusive spaces for learning and empowerment for all.
