BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
At the April 21, 2021 meeting, Council adopted a resolution awarding the contract for rental and cleaning of uniforms for certain employees to Cintas Corporation No. 3 of Stockton in the amount of $113,401. The contract was for a two-year initial term with the option to extend for three addition one year terms. At the November 2, 2022 meeting, Council adopted a resolution executing Amendment No. 1 to add an additional $200,000 and extend the term by one year, through June 30, 2024.
The current contract includes uniforms for the Facilities Services, Fleet Services, Streets, Water/Wastewater, Community Center and Parks division employees, as provided in the memorandums of understanding. Seat covers, rags, towels and floor mats used in the various city facilities are also included in the contract. The original contract was based on the employee count at the time of the bid. Since that time, there have been increases in staff as well as staff turnover, which results in additional cost to some of the divisions.
Staff recommends Council authorize the Interim City Manager to execute Amendment No. 2 to the contract with Cintas Corporation No. 3 of Stockton for rental and cleaning of uniforms. Amendment No. 2, if approved, will add an additional $140,000 to the existing contract amount of $313,401, and extend the term by one year, through June 30, 2025.
