BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Public Power Week is an annual national observance coordinated by the American Public Power Association - the voice of not-for-profit, community-owned utilities that power thousands of towns and cities nationwide.
Public power utilities across the United States celebrate Public Power Week the first full week of October every year to help customers and stakeholders understand how they can better engage with their community-owned utility and benefit from services offered. Our community joins hands with more than 2,000 other public power systems in the U.S. in celebrating Public Power Week. Due to Lodi Unified School District's Fall break during the first full week of October, Lodi Electric Utility (LEU) will celebrate Public Power Week later in the month - October 20-26, 2024.
LEU is dedicated to being Lodi's customer-owned energy partner to meet the needs of the community, and provide courteous, professional service for safe, reliable, and competitively-priced power. Since 1910, when the utility began serving the citizens and businesses of Lodi, LEU has been dedicated to being "large enough to meet your needs and small enough to care."
For more than 20 years, LEU staff opened its doors and hosted an open house to educate elementary aged students by showing them demonstrations from electric line crews in addition to teaching them about electric safety practices. On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, LEU staff will be hosting its annual open house to nearly 500 elementary school students.
