BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Lodi House began as an idea in the 1990s, when Annette Murdaca and Nancy Watts envisioned creating a place of safe haven for women and children. Shelby Young was recruited in 2000 to raise awareness, secure additional funding for the project and recruit volunteers to convert the site purchased at 801 S. Washington Street into a home. Since Lodi House officially opened on September 11, 2000, the organization has expanded to include the Lodi House Thrift Store on Lodi Avenue, 10 units that can be utilized for the transitional housing program, and celebrated 20 years of empowering more than 1,000 women and children.
Mayor Craig, on behalf of the Lodi City Council, extends deep appreciation and gratitude to the Lodi House and its team for the life-transforming work they do everyday for the Lodi community.
