BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Following a previous Council meeting, Mayor Bregman requested an item for Council discussion on the potential of a finance committee. This item is presented to the City Council, to provide direction on whether there’s interest in forming such a committee and what preferred options may look like.
Section 5 Commissions, of the City Council Protocol Manual, includes policies and procedures for City Council Commissions. Commissions may include standing Council-appointed boards, commissions, committees, ad hoc committees, and task forces. These commissions broadly are meant to serve as advisory bodies that facilitate public input and citizen participation in determining public policies. Section 5 further outlines the appointment process, compensation, and term of office. Commissions are vested with certain responsibilities and a duty to inform City Council of activities and recommendations.
