RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a two-year Professional Services Agreement with one-year optional extension with Tree Lodi for implementation of a Residential Shade Tree Program in an amount not-to-exceed $233,205.
Tree Lodi, a non-profit entity dedicated to building and sustaining healthy communities through planting trees and education, achieved success by carefully planning the Pilot Program, placing over 500 shade trees each year. During the Pilot Program, Tree Lodi performed on-site tree education and consultation, delivered trees and supplies, established purchasing relationships with wholesale and retail tree nurseries, maintained inventory, conducted workshops and created a webpage to market the program.
Following the successful completion of the Pilot Program, LEU and Tree Lodi entered into a two-year Professional Services Agreement to provide similar services. This Agreement ends on June 30, 2025.
Since 2022, Tree Lodi has delivered approximately 2,000 shade trees to residential homeowners. All services have been provided by knowledgeable and engaged Tree Lodi volunteers who were all actively involved in planning, budgeting, reporting and interacting with Lodi homeowners on an ongoing basis.
Based on the success of past program years, staff recommends approval of a new two-year Professional Services Agreement through June 30, 2027 with a one-year optional extension through June 30, 2028.
