BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On March 31, 2025, Public Works and Police Department staff attended a public meeting graciously hosted by Vintage Church located at the corner of Turner Road and California Street. The meeting provided a forum for residents to express their concerns for traffic along various segments of Turner Road, but was primarily focused on the intersection of Turner Road and California Street. Public Works and Police staff both addressed questions from those in attendance for approximately 2 hours.
The presentation will provide the following information:
• A summary of traffic studies that have been conducted to date;
• An update on responses to resident concerns expressed at the March 31st meeting; and a discussion regarding enhanced traffic enforcement;
• Introduce options being considered at the intersection of Turner and California to address resident concerns;
• Update on signal modification project at Turner Road and Ham Lane;
• Introduce option of engaging a consultant to perform a comprehensive traffic safety study along the entire Turner Road corridor.
Once Staff is prepared to provide feasible options for addressing safety concerns at the Turner Road and California Street intersection, a follow up public meeting will be scheduled. During the follow up meeting (anticipated in late July), staff will discuss the pros and cons associated with each option provided and take feedback from those in attendance as guidance for recommending next steps to the Council.
