BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Surface Water Treatment Facility (SWTF) requires various chemicals throughout the treatment process to produce potable water. Currently, the water treatment facility is using Citric Acid to perform periodic chemical washes on the filtration system. In addition to the chemicals purchased for treatment at the SWTF, Lodi’s municipal wells and treated wastewater are disinfected using an NSF grade sodium hypochlorite solution.

Our current contract terms for supply of these chemicals expire on June 30, 2025. The current contract allows for two one-year extensions.  Staff recommends authorizing City Manager to execute Amendment No. 2 to the existing Professional Services Agreement with Pacific Star Chemical for SWTF and Well Chemical Supply, for a total not-to-exceed amount of $240,000.  Amendment No. 2, if approved, is expected to provide funding to cover the contract costs through June 30, 2027, if both extensions are executed.

STRATEGIC VISION:

8. Public Well-Being.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding for chemical purchases is included in the Water Operations budget. This purchase will not impact the General Fund.
