body

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

On February 7, 2024, by resolution 2024-20, the City Council established the Economic Development Ad Hoc Committee (the “Committee”), its objectives, and the guidelines for appointing members of the Committee. The Resolution establishing the Committee provides that it shall consist of nine members, including five district representative members, two at-large members, and two City Councilmembers that shall serve in an ex officio capacity.

On May 1, 2024, the City Council appointed Mark Chandler, Mona Shulman, Stephen Griswold, Russell Munson, Monica Valenzuela, William Herrin, and Clifford Lenzi to the Committee. To complete the Committee membership, the City Council shall appoint two representatives to serve as the ex officio members.

The ex officio nominations may be made by any Councilmember and shall be approved by a vote of the entire Council. Ex officio Councilmembers shall serve as advisory, non-voting members of the Committee. The ex officio Councilmembers shall represent the collective interests of all City residents, rather than individualized concerns from their own Districts. Staff now asks that the Council nominate and vote to appoint 2 Councilmembers to serve at the ex officio Committee members.
