body

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

On September 21, 2022, the City Council adopted Resolution 2022-215, authorizing City Manager to accept the 2021 Assistance to Firefighter Grant award to send Lodi Fire personnel to paramedic school in an effort to transition the Lodi Fire Department (“LFD”) from Basic Life Support (“BLS”) services to Advanced Life Support (“ALS”) services.

Currently, there are nine members of the LFD attending paramedic school and four additional department personnel that need to fulfill a designated number of supervised ALS contacts (10-Call Accreditation). South San Joaquin County Fire Authority (“SSJCFA”) has agreed to enter into an MOU with the City of Lodi to provide these services to the Lodi Fire Department, free of cost. LFD personnel will be able to ride with SSJCFA to fulfill this requirement to complete their 10-Call Accreditation.

STRATEGIC VISION:

7C. Public Safety: Institute the Advance Life Support Program.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This will be free of cost.

FUNDING AVAILABLE:

 Not Applicable.
