BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

For more than 60 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has celebrated National Small Business Week to acknowledge the critical contributions America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners have made in their communities and neighborhoods. More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, creating approximately two out of every three new jobs in the United States each year.

As a part of National Small Business Week, the SBA takes the opportunity to officially recognize and highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs and small business owners from across the county. Every day, their hard work, ingenuity, and dedication translates into growing their businesses, creating good jobs, driving innovation, and increasing global, national and local competitiveness.

This year, Lodi is promoting its new Shop Local website, aimed at giving small businesses in Lodi more exposure to attract new customers and increase sales. Eating and shopping local is the easiest way to support small businesses and merchants during this week, and throughout the year.
