body
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
City Council approved the master plan for DeBenedetti Park on July 17, 2019. Callander Associates Landscape Architecture, Inc (CALA) developed the plan and with Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) staff identified the first two (2) project phases in the plan.
In March 2023, the City entered into a Professional Services Agreement (PSA) with CALA to revise the original scope of work to include improvements which would allow the current drive aisle to connect to the existing parking infrastructure on the south side of the park. This work also includes revising the location of the proposed trash enclosure. Amendment 1 to the PSA allowed for a time extension and increased costs for construction assistance, review and finalization of the plans after Building Department’s review and comments. Amendment 2 included revisions to the plans required to meet 2022 California Building Code and Cal Green Code requirements, specifically Section 11B-250 for circulation paths and implementation of EV parking.
This project includes the addition of a parking lot on Century Blvd, restroom and concession pre-engineered / pre-manufactured structure, masonry park sign, trash enclosure, underground utilities, paths of travel, lighting, park amenities, irrigation and landscaping.
The plans and specifications are on file in the PRCS Department. The planned bid opening date is
November 18, 2026. The total project estimate is $5,100,000.
