BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) solicited applications in March 2026 for alcohol-related enforcement and educational programs. The Lodi Police Department received an acceptance letter securing funds in the amount of $72,080 for operations from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026.
The ABC APP Program is designed to assist law enforcement departments in educating licensees and the public about alcohol-related laws, reduce the amount of alcohol sold to individuals under the age of 21 by ABC licensees, and reduce crime and quality of life issues related to the sale and consumption of alcohol.
This year, the Lodi Police Department received an award to carry out “Minor Decoy” enforcement, “Shoulder Tap” enforcement, “Informed Merchants Preventing Alcohol-Related Crime Tendencies (IMPACT)” enforcement, other special enforcements, and trainings. The grant process requires the Lodi City Council to authorize the acceptance of the grant and proposed expenditures through this resolution.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$72,080 in revenue and expenses will be appropriated in the ABC Grant accounts.
