BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Mayor will present a proclamation proclaiming the week of May 4 - May 10, 2025 as “Municipal Clerk’s Week” in the City of Lodi.
Municipal, or City, Clerks serve as vital administrators within local government, acting as the official record-keepers and ensuring transparency and efficiency in municipal operations. They are responsible for maintaining public records, preparing agendas and minutes for city council meetings, managing financial disclosures by elected officials, and overseeing local election processes. As a central point of contact between the public and city government, City Clerks ensure legal compliance by publishing public notices and administering oaths. As an impartial link between the citizens, the local governing body, and other local agencies, their work supports the smooth functioning of civic life and helps foster accountability and trust within the community.
The City of Lodi is proud to recognize Municipal Clerks Week to honor the dedication and professionalism of Municipal Clerks. This annual event, sponsored by the International Institute of Municipal Clerk’s (IIMC) and supported by California Municipal Clerk Association (CMCA) highlights the vital role clerks play in local government.
