BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The League of California Cities ("Cal Cities") was founded in 1898. The organization partners with City leaders across the State of California, to expand and protect local control through education and advocacy. Cal Cities offers education and training programs for City leaders and hosts conferences to provide an open forum for California cities' officials to meet and share information and experiences.

Each year, at the League of California Cities ("Cal Cities"), a General Assembly of the member cities meets to consider and take action on resolutions that establish League policy. In order for City representatives to vote during the General Assembly, the City Council must designate a voting delegate and up to two alternate delegates.

This year, Cal Cities will be hosting its Annual Conference and Expo on September 23-25, in Anaheim, California. On the last day of the conference, a General Assembly Meeting is held for member cities, to consider and act on resolutions that establish Cal Cities policies. To participate in the General Assembly as a member city, the City of Lodi must appoint a voting delegate and up to two alternate voting delegates to vote on the proposed Cal Cities resolutions. The voting delegate and alternate voting delegate(s) must be registered to attend the conference. The members of the Lodi City Council attending the conference are Mayor Yepéz and Council Member Craig-Hensley.

After the delegate and alternates have been designated by the City Council, staff will submit the online Voting Delegate form to Cal Cities before the commencement of the conference. The deadline to submit the Voting Delegate form was September 1, 2026; staff has received permission from Cal Cities to submit the form after Council action has been taken.
