RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Adopt a Resolution authorizing Interim City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to Professional Services Agreement with Infinity Security Solutions, for Maintenance services of door hardware in City facilities ($35,000).

body

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

On August 1, 2023 the City executed a Professional Services Agreement with Jon Grigsby, a sole proprietor, dba Infinity Security Solutions, for Citywide Locksmith Services. The current contract term extends through June 30, 2025. Locksmith services are regularly needed to repair and/or replace door lock hardware in City facilities.

It was recently discovered that due to the age of the key and lock design, the key blanks for the police department lock cylinders are no longer protected by copyright by the manufacturer. The copyright protection required that all key blanks be purchased through a certified supplier. Without this certification requirement, the blanks are available to anyone on the open market. This has resulted in a security concern for the Police Department because the key blanks can be sold to unauthorized individuals.

If approved, Amendment No, 1, will add $35,000 to the contract to cover the cost to re-key the Police Department ($27,000) and continue to cover the costs of our regular repairs.

STRATEGIC VISION:

5C. Infrastructure: Address deferred maintenance.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Costs will be distributed to the division operating account dependent upon the location of the repairs or maintenance. The cost associated with Amendment No. 1 is entirely funded by the General Fund, however, staff anticipates that Citywide; approximately 50 percent of the work associated with this agreement will impact the General Fund.

FUNDING AVAILABLE:

Funding is budgeted in the operating accounts associated with the location of the repairs.
