body
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The City conducted a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process wherein Callander Associates Landscape Architecture, Inc. (“CALA”) was selected as the landscape architecture firm to design future improvements at DeBenedetti Park. The City entered into a Professional Services Agreement (“PSA”) with CALA for the master planning process and design in February 2019. CALA developed the plan and, with Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (“PRCS”) staff, identified the first two (2) project phases in the plan. Phase I and Phase II will include Century parking lot (200+ parking stalls), paths of travel including lighting, benches and trash receptacles, restroom and concession building, playground areas, underground utilities, irrigation system, grass, trees and shrubs. The City Council approved the master plan on July 17, 2019.
In March 2023, the City entered into a PSA with CALA to revise the original scope of work to include improvements which would allow the current drive aisle to connect to the existing parking infrastructure on the south side of the park. This work included revising the location of the proposed trash enclosure. Amendment 1 to the PSA allowed for a time extension and increased costs for construction assistance, plan review and finalization of the plans after Building Department’s review and comments.
Amendment 2 includes revisions to the plans required to meet 2022 California Building Code and Cal Green code requirements, specifically Section 11B-250 for circulation paths and implementation of EV parking. The additional work required in Amendment 2 will increase costs by $68,282 for a total not to exceed contract amount of $122,962. This Amendment will extend the term of the PSA to December 31, 2025.
