RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Adopt a resolution awarding contract to Vestis Uniform and Workplace Supplies, Inc., of Stockton, for rental and cleaning of uniforms for certain field and warehouse employees, in the amount of $143,893.36, and authorize change orders in an amount not to exceed $150,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

A uniform service has been used for the rental and cleaning of uniforms for certain field and warehouse employees since 1992. The current contract was awarded in 2021 and all extensions included in the contract have been exhausted. The current contract expires on June 30, 2026.

 

The new contract will include uniforms for Facilities Services, Fleet Services, Streets, Water/Wastewater, Parks division employees and for certain staff at the Surface Water Treatment Plant, White Slough Water Pollution Control Facility, and Community Center, as provided in the memorandums of understanding.  Rags, towels, and floor mats used in the various shops and buildings will also be part of this contract.

 

The specifications were approved on February 4, 2026. The City received the following bids on March 20, 2026:

Staff is requesting the additional change order to accommodate the first two extensions should they be desired.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The uniform service contract is an annually budgeted expense that is necessary to fulfill various MOU agreements. There are no other long-term fiscal impacts associated with this contract.

 

FUNDING AVAILABLE:

Contract will be budgeted and paid out of the various department’s operating accounts (10051000, 65055000, 30156001, 53053001, 53053003, 56052001, 56052005, 20072300, 20073001, 20072202, 20072203, 20071402) as adopted each fiscal year.
