body
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Acrylic court surfaces have a useful life of approximately ten years under normal conditions. The basketball courts and handball court at Hale Park were last resurfaced in 2013 and are again in need of resurfacing (see Exhibit A).
This proposed project would resurface approximately 18,000 square feet of court surface at Hale Park which includes cleaning and preparing the existing concrete, filling cracks and joints, and applying a textured, single colored surfacing system with new textured game lines. Basketball Court #1 and the Handball Court will be restriped to match the existing configurations and use. The existing basketball half court will be restriped and improved as a new pickleball court, and existing Basketball Court #2 will be restriped and improved as a new soccer court. See Exhibit B for new court configurations. The project also includes modifying the chain link fence that is original to the park from 10-ft height to 6-ft height and replaces the fencing rails and fabric.
The plans and specifications are on file in the Public Works Department. The planned bid opening date is December 17, 2025. The project estimate is $120,000. Therefore, staff recommends that Council approve the proposed plans and specifications for the 2025 Hale Park Court Improvements, authorize advertisement for Bids for this project, and adopt a resolution authorizing the Interim City Manager or Designee to Award the contract to lowest responsive bidder and execute necessary change orders in a total amount not to exceed $206,000.
