BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Public Works Week is a national event designed to educate the public on the vital role of Public Works in their daily lives. This year’s theme, “People, Purpose, Presence,” recognizes the essential contributions public works professionals make to their communities. Public Works plays a key role in the planning, building, and maintenance of infrastructure in our community, ensuring future generations to enjoy a higher quality of life.
National Public Works Week underscores the importance of Public Works in community life and honors the unsung heroes who serve the public good with quiet dedication. These professionals- men and women who plan, design, build, and maintain our water, wastewater, drainage, and street systems; ourCity buildings; and services such as fleet, transit, and solid waste- are critical to the well-being of our community and help move life forward.
