BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Loomis previously operated under an evergreen contract with the City of Lodi. This was discovered by the Revenue Division while evaluating options to modernize and improve armored transport services. Establishing a new agreement will ensure compliance with the City's procurement policies and provide enhanced cash handling capabilities. Within the updated contract, the Revenue Division is proposing the addition of a cash handling and change management machine product that Loomis now offers.
The Revenue Division within the Finance Department collects currency from the payment kiosk, front counter, and various City departments. Currently, collected cash is secured in a safe overnight and is not deposited in the bank until the armored transport service retrieves the funds on the following business day.
To improve efficiency, accountability, and internal controls, staff is proposing the implementation of a Loomis cash handling and change management machine. This system will allow Customer Service Representatives to automatically dispense cash for tills at the start of the day and electronically count and reconcile cash at the end of the day. This technology will eliminate manual counting and significantly streamline daily operations.
