Mayor Yepez will present a proclamation in observance of the month of Ramadan, February 17 - March 19, 2026.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is regarded as the holiest month in Islam. It commemorates the period when the first verses of the Qur’an were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad in 610 CE in the Cave of Hira near Mecca. During Ramadan, Muslims around the world fast from dawn to sunset, refraining from food, drink, and other physical needs as a means of spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and increased devotion. The fast is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, making it a central religious commitment. The month concludes with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, three days of festivities marked by communal prayers, charity, and gatherings with family and friends.
Lodi Muslim Mosque, Masjid Ya Rasool-Allah, Khurram Shehzan Khan, Roger Khan, Mohsen Masood Khan and Muhammad Sohrab Ali Khan will be present to accept the proclamation.
