BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The asphalt materials purchase is needed to carry out preventive street maintenance and repairs. The amount of asphalt requested (approximately 1,600 tons) for Fiscal Year 2024/25 will allow crews to perform localized street repairs, thin overlays, and asphalt patching of large sidewalk offsets.
The initial term of the proposed contract is two years and includes two optional, one-year extensions, for a total of four years, if all extensions are executed.
The specifications are on file in the Public Works Department. The planned bid opening date is March 27, 2024. The project estimate is $125,000.
Staff recommends approving specifications and authorizing advertisement for bids for 2024-2026 Asphalt Materials.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Preventive maintenance will extend the useful life of our streets and reduce future street reconstruction costs. This project will not impact the General Fund.
