body

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) uses a contracting agency’s salary schedules to establish compensation earnable for purposes of determining retirement benefits. CalPERS requires such salary schedules be publicly available and approved by the contracting agency’s governing body.

At its March 18, 2026 meeting, Council adopted Resolution No. 2026-054. Along with other matters, this resolution approved the salary schedule for classifications represented by the AFSCME - Maintenance and Operators Unit. It was later determined four classifications (Equipment Service Worker, Laboratory Supervisor, Plant & Equipment Maintenance Technician, and Water/Wastewater Supervisor) in the AFSCME - Maintenance and Operators Unit salary schedule showed incorrect information.

Council approval of the amened salary schedules will ensure continued compliance with CalPERS regulations.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Adoption of the amended salary schedule corrects an administrative error and does not result in any additional fiscal impact to the City.
