BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

September is nationally recognized as Library Card Sign-Up Month, a time to highlight the important role public libraries play in supporting literacy, education, lifelong learning, and access to information and community resources.

The Lodi Public Library will celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month throughout September 2026 by encouraging community members to obtain and use their library cards. This year’s celebration will also include the unveiling of three new library cards featuring the winning designs from the Lodi Public Library Card Art Contest.

The winning designs were created by Lodi community members Alejandra Stevens (Adult Card); Conan Blankenship (Teen Card); and Brenton Stackhouse (Children’s Card). Their artwork will be featured on limited-edition library cards, celebrating local creativity while giving community members a new way to show their connection to the Lodi Public Library.

The proclamation recognizes National Library Card Sign-Up Month, celebrates the Art Card Contest winners, and highlights the Lodi Public Library’s continued commitment to providing free and equitable access to materials, technology, educational programs, and services for residents of all ages.
