BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation that designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that day falls as Police Week.
National Police Week honors the service and sacrifice of those law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, and the more than 800,000 active law enforcement officers who protect our communities and safeguard our democracy across America. The Lodi Police Department has 74 sworn police officers, corporals, sergeants, lieutenants, captains, and the Chief of Police. These men and women face risks and challenges with courage, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to public service, often risking their own safety to protect others.
The Police Department requests that the City Council p...
