BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On July 9, 2026, a resident experienced a medical emergency at Lodi Lake beach after suffering a fall and going into cardiac arrest. Lodi Parks Department lifeguards and other staff on duty immediately initiated life-saving measures and managed the lake and pool areas to help ensure the safety of the public. Several bystanders also responded without hesitation.
Chris and Camille Gillespie activated the 911 emergency system and retrieved a first aid kit to assist the resident. LaCrisa Black, a nursing assistant, also stepped in to provide life-saving care. Shortly thereafter, a CenCal ambulance arrived and assumed patient care. Lodi Fire Engine 2031 arrived soon after, provided advanced life support, and continued patient care. A firefighter accompanied the patient in the ambulance to Lodi Memorial Hospital to provide ongoing care during transport.
