RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt a resolution authorizing purchase of Intimidator 12XP Drum Style wood chipper from Cal-Line Equipment Inc., Livermore CA in the amount of $65,356.
body
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
City Council, through their adopted Budget in FY 2023/2024, approved PRCS' purchase of a 12" drum style tow-behind intimidator wood chipper in the amount of $56,000. This purchase was approved to address smaller tree debris on site, particularly at Lodi Lake Nature Area, instead of off-hauling materials at an additional cost, or needing to rent a piece of equipment. The increased cost covers the inclusion of a winch needed to haul heavier debris safely into the chipper feeder.
City Council, through their adopted Budget in FY 2022/2023, approved PRCS' purchase of two (2) Toro Greensmaster walk-behind mowers in the amount of $29,000. PRCS attempted to purchase the mowers but due to price increases and emission regulations (a mower with less than 25HP cannot be sold in California) PRCS cannot move forward with the purchase.
PRCS requests City Council approve the purchase of the wood chipper. The increase in cost of $9,356 can be covered by the walk-behind mower funds within PRCS' equipment replacement fund.
STRATEGIC VISION:
6B. Parks: Expand, develop, and maintain Lodi Lake to meet or exceed industry standards.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding available in PRCS' equipment replacement fund.
FUNDING AVAILABLE:
Equipment Replacement Fund (64103000.77030 - Expense)
