BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
California Adopt-a-Pet Day is a statewide animal adoption event that encourages Californians to open their hearts and homes to shelter pets in need. Organized through a partnership between California Animal Welfare Association, San Francisco SPCA, and ASPCA, the event brings together hundreds of shelters and rescue organizations across the state to promote pet adoption, often with waived adoption fees. Since its launch in 2024, California Adopt-a-Pet Day has helped thousands of dogs, cats, and other animals find loving homes while raising awareness about the importance of adopting from shelters. The event not only gives animals a second chance at life but also helps reduce overcrowding in shelters and encourages responsible pet ownership throughout California.
