BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Building and Code Staff Appreciation Day is observed annually on September 1 to recognize the vital contributions of building and code professionals who protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public through the administration and enforcement of building, fire, property maintenance, energy, accessibility, and related codes.
Within the City of Lodi, the Building Division and Code Enforcement staff serve an essential role in ensuring that residential, commercial, and industrial development complies with applicable state and local regulations. Through plan review, permit processing, inspections, code enforcement, and customer assistance, these professionals help ensure that buildings are constructed and maintained in accordance with adopted safety standards while supporting responsible community growth and economic development.
Building and Code professionals are required to maintain extensive technical knowledge and regularly participate in continuing education to remain current with changes to the California Building Standards Code and evolving construction practices. Their work helps reduce risks associated with structural failure, fire hazards, natural disasters, and accessibility barriers, contributing to a safer and more resilient community.
