body
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Public Works Week is a national event aimed at educating the public about the significant contributions of Public Works to their daily lives. This year's theme is "Advancing Quality of Life for All" and recognizes the vital contributions public works professionals make every day to their communities. Public Works plays a key role in the planning, building, and maintenance of infrastructure that will allow future generations to enjoy a higher quality of life.

National Public Works Week highlights the importance of Public Works in community life and seeks to recognize the heroes of our society - the professionals who serve the public good every day with quiet dedication. These often-unsung heroes are the men and women in Public Works who plan, design, build, and maintain our water, wastewater, drainage and street systems, City buildings, fleet, transit, and solid waste services. These individuals play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life in our community and contribute to its progress.

A representative of the Public Works Department will be present to accept the proclamation.
