Adopt a Resolution authorizing City Manager to accept a donation in the amount of $10,000 from the Carnegie Corporation of New York for the Lodi Public Library and appropriate funds to the Library's Donation account.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
In anticipation of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, the Carnegie Corporation of New York launched a nationwide initiative recognizing historic Carnegie library buildings that continue to serve their communities.
Between 1883 and 1929, more than 1,600 Carnegie libraries were constructed across the United States. Today, approximately 1,350 of those buildings remain standing. The City of Lodi is proud to be among these historic institutions, as the Lodi Public Library was originally established as a Carnegie library and continues to operate as one of these enduring legacy institutions.
In celebration of this national milestone, the Carnegie Corporation of New York awarded a one-time, unrestricted grant to each eligible surviving Carnegie libraries. This "strings-free" funding honors the lasting impact of Andrew Carnegie's investment in public libraries and recognizes the continued service these institutions provide to their communities.
Acceptance of donations exceeding $500 requires City Council approval. Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to accept the $10,000 donation from the Carnegie Corporation of New York and appropriate the funds into the Library's Donation Account.
