BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) administers the Measure K regional sales tax program. Measure K provides funding for a variety of road improvement projects, including the Bicycle, Pedestrian and Safe Routes to School Non-Competitive Program. For Cycle 2 (2022-2026), the total fund claimed was $258,000 for the Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons and ADA ramps improvements. This project will install curb ramps in the vicinity of George Washington Elementary School that were identified and prioritized as part of the Phase 1 improvements in the City’s Safe Route to School Plan. Phase 1 improvements are within 500 feet of a school. Phase 2 and 3 are improvements within 0.25 and 0.5 mile of a school.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This project has minimal long-term fiscal impact, however it addresses accessibility needs within our community and adjacent to school locations.
