Accept Improvements Under Contract for Demolition of Park Structures Project.
body
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
This project consisted of the demolition of various structures located at Lawrence Park, Grape Bowl and the Softball Complex that have been abandoned for many years. The work included pavement and/or turf restoration where the structures were removed, in addition to replacing adjacent uplifted sidewalk at Lawrence Park.
The structures removed include the restroom at Lawrence Park, Grape Bowl parking lot modular building, and the Softball Complex concession stand and restroom building. All of these structures were no longer utilized, costly to maintain, and were therefore designated for removal.
The contract was awarded to Soracco, Inc. on December 20, 2023, in the amount of $121,350. The final contract price was $133,261 with one change order in the amount of $11,911. The change order consisted of removing two wood utility poles that were no longer used and extra pavement repair at the Softball Complex.
Following acceptance by the City Council, as required by law, the City Engineer will file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's office. The notice serves to notify vendors and subcontractors that the project is complete and begins their 30-day period to file a stop notice requiring the City to withhold payments from the prime contractor in the event of a payment dispute.
STRATEGIC VISION:
5C. Infrastructure: Address deferred maintenance.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The project will decrease maintenance costs and reduce liability associated with City owned facilities that are in disrepair and are not compliant with ADA standards.
FUNDING AVAILABLE:
This project was funded by Parks Budget (PKCO-22006).
