BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Public Works Week is observed nationwide to highlight the essential role Public Works plays in our daily lives. This year’s theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” celebrates the meaningful contributions public works professionals make in communities every day.
Public works is vital to planning, building, and maintaining infrastructure that supports our community, today and for future generations. From safe streets and reliable water systems to well-maintained public facilities, this work helps ensure a high quality of life for all.
During National Public Works Week, we recognize the dedicated professionals who serve the public each day. Often working behind the scenes, these unsung heroes plan, design, build, and maintain our water, wastewater, drainage, street systems, as well as City buildings, fleet, transit, and solid waste services. Their commitment keeps our community running and moving forward.
A representative of the Public Works Department will be present to accept the proclamation.
