RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Accept improvements under contract for the parking structure stair re-sealing project and adopt a resolution updating the contract award amount from $76,980 to $79,680.

body

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The scope of this project was to remove and replace the existing, deteriorated, concrete sealant at the Transit Station parking structure stairs. The existing stair sealant was failing, allowing water intrusion into the structure (the World of Wonder’s classroom) below.  The City received bids for the project on November 5, 2025.

On January 7, 2026 Council awarded the contract to Waterproofing Associates, Inc., of Lodi in the amount of $76,980. The awarded contract amount was incorrect due to a transposition error (no fault of the contractor), with the correct amount being $79,680. That error will be corrected with this item.

The stair re-sealing has now been completed in conformance with the construction documents. The final contract amount was $79,680, with no change orders.

Before and after pictures of the parking structure stairs are included as Exhibit A.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The project will reduce long-term maintenance costs and potential claims with the water seeping through the stairs into the closet of the World of Wonders (WOW) classroom below.

FUNDING AVAILABLE:

This project was funded by Transportation Development Act (TDA) funds (PWTR-26003).
